Remember, there is always help available.

Remember the familiar roads: family, a school counselor, a doctor, helplines.

You will read and hear a lot, at the end of the day, about loving and being kind to yourself.

Respecting and treating your body with love is a beautiful idea.

You may find a lot of help from:

  • Dressing up nicely and wearing clothes that make you feel nice about yourself
  • Eating well - this is as basic as limiting junk foods, processed snacks, and foods with a lot of salt, fat and/or sugar
  • Exercise - for about 30 minutes every day. It’s healthy and brilliant!
  • Sleep - give yourself good, restful sleep by switching off your devices for some time before you go to bed, and establishing a regular time for going to bed and getting up. It also helps to exercise a bit when you first rise if you find you are very groggy.
  • Recreation - do some hobbies that aren’t meant to get you further in your career or school, they’re just… fun!

You may find it easier to love yourself if your thoughts are not as blocked by anxiety.

There are some methods for reducing anxiety that don’t require medication:

  • Counseling- find some new ways of looking and addressing scary situations
  • Journaling - writing down your thoughts, ideally in response to direct questions, and talking aloud what you write can help you judge the mess of ideas
  • Relaxation techniques - from meditation to biofeedback, there are many out there!
  • Self-talk - start to become aware of how you talk about yourself. Identify the negative thoughts and debate and remove them! They are holding you back, to be sure.
