Risk It All! The Forgotten Power of Taking Risks
Home » Inspiration »
Recent research paper dropped a bombshell: Our fear of risk is making us miserable.
It's not just about mountain climbing or stock trading. This is about everyday risks we've stopped taking, and the damage it's causing.
The Journal of Pediatrics recently published a paper. It says that the decline in young people taking risks is causing a mental health crisis. But here's the kicker: it's not just you Z people, it's all of us! We've shifted from viewing others as competent and responsible, to needing supervision and protection. Our fear of risk has skyrocketed since the 60s. We're protecting ourselves into unhappiness.
So, how can we bring a bit of risk back into our lifes?
• Embrace uncertainty: Life is unpredictable. Enjoy the ride! • Take small risks daily: Try a new food. Take a different route to work. • Trust others: Believe in people's competence and resilience. We should … we have to broaden our approach to young people and give them opportunities to take calculated risks and learn how to mitigate them by planning, creative preparations, social connectedness and supports. **Are we letting fear rob us of our happiness?** #RiskTaking #PersonalGrowth #MentalHealth
