Have you ever experienced in your life the joy of learning something new?

It could’ve been a small yet special thing; it could have been large and brilliant.

When you were in class, or out in nature, did a fact or realisation ever just make sense all at once in your mind? Your brain was full of light, and you had that thought: “I never knew, and now I do.” It could’ve been the tiniest bit of knowledge, embarrassingly small, yet you felt something turn inside of you and the warm feeling: you really know something now.

We all have experienced this, but it’s an experience we like to keep hidden because it’s very personal. At times, someone will come to you and say, “Look what I’ve learnt,” and you can share it and have a laugh at whatever weird fact they’ve just discovered. Yet often these moments just slip away, and we take them for granted.

These days, there is such a deluge of information from social media, work, and culture we miss a lot of these moments, simply caught up in the storm. You have heard this before. Yet somehow the universe finds a way- it shares with us its secrets through the cracks, on TikTok, or between TikToks. Whether walking to school, or on the bus, the secrets whisper to you.

Do you like to read?
When was the last time you read something that spun your imagination?
When was the last time someone told you something that made you shiver and think the world is incredible?
And how about the last time you
yourself discovered something, out in the trees or the ground, or in your mind or in your heart, or in the soul of others, that reminded you of the fact you are golden and unique?

learning new things

We at Voix are not asking you to change your life - keep doing you.
But maybe you can remember these moments a little more. Remember these times when you learn a bit of history, or science, or nothing at all. Return to them, write them down, and maybe, if you feel up to it, mention them to another. We are all together and equally bowled over by the magic of the universe, whether you are a great scientist or a young student. There is more to know than anyone can ever know, and we all teach each other in the incredible journey.

We gently encourage you to notice these moments when they arise and let them enrich your sense of who you are. Often while you are alone and at peace, your mind simply rolling through the world, these ideas come to you. There will be moments when you are not using your voice. You may find things come to you in these “hours of idleness”. You may take them with you and maybe one day reveal them to the rest of the world. Let us equip ourselves with all the knowledge we can to make our voices sing better. And what was it Rumi said? Shhh… let silence tell you the secrets of the world.
