Let’s put Netflix and Disney+ to good use
Emotional regulation is integral to our confidence and resilience in life.
We are all constantly learning how to handle our emotions and deal with our reactions to the changing realities of our social interactions. This process is more challenging earlier in life, but we never stop learning. Our emotions frequently surprise us with their unpredictability and intensity. Harnessing this passion and unpredictability give us inspiration and confidence to learn how to manage them.
Let’s learn from the masters – from creative examples with which some of us could be familiar. We are excited to introduce you to ThinkHuman TV Program thinkhuman.tv, which represents a new social and emotional learning frontier.
Voix secured commercial licences to make this program accessible to its users.
ThinkHuman TV uses Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming platforms to teach young people to recognise emotions! From Star Wars to Stranger Things, ThinkHuman TV adds a new element to your favourite shows by doing fun game-like exercises that encourage you to recognise characters' emotions and connect them to the right behaviours. The first step towards emotional awareness is learning to identify and describe your feelings and their feelings.
We all need to learn about emotions to gain greater control over what triggers our emotional reactions and how to respond. It is a big art that we all can learn and acquire!
As discussed by Stegge and Terwogt (2007), social-emotional learning assumes that in the human mind, we not only feel things, but we can acknowledge and think about how we feel after we react; our emotional system has two levels. By teaching frameworks of recognising and “giving names) to emotion, we can better control how we react and adapt to our situation. This helps with peer relationships, work, and school and is essential to our development. This is the backbone of our social interactions and our social life.
ThinkHuman TV is a powerful (and fun) form of social-emotional learning. This training has been shown to build knowledge, increase emotional self-confidence, and reduce unhealthy habits like emotion suppression.
In addition to ThinkHuman TV, we suggest the Atlas of Emotions atlasofemotions.org - an interactive tool that “builds your vocabulary of emotions and illuminates your emotional world”. It is a brilliant representation of emotions, how they evolve and what we could do with them.
The Atlas of Emotions is endorsed and supported by Dalai Lama – yes, that one – a famous Tibetan monk, but is not weighted and skewed by any specific spiritual beliefs – it is a balanced knowledge of what emotions are and how to recognise them and connect them.
A new version of this Atlas is coming soon for younger people, which should be even more attractive and interactive than the one already online. We believe that ThinkHuman TV and the Atlas of Emotions complement each other in a perfect harmony of emotional discovery and self-knowledge.

For sure, there’s a lot more to think about and talk about, so let’s share and create a Voix Guide together, and find out what’s important for YOU.
