How do parents impact the upbringing of young people
How can we impact the upbringing of young people?
It is becoming more challenging now. There seems to be a growing gap between the worlds of parents and their "offsprings", particularly with all present and dynamic Generation Z.
What should we do (as parents) to be helpful?
Let's start with the self-evident statement that ALL PARENTS LOVE THEIR KIDS (well, there are some unfortunate exceptions).
* They want the best for them.
** They dream of raising proud, resilient, emphatic and unashamed adults.

So, how do you do that?
The old family structures have been irreparably challenged! However, parents are still providers, guides and supports, but observing the emerging generation, they need more directions and inspiration to empower them in young people's developmental quest, not inconsistent prohibitions. They need to coach, mentor and inspire young people at a time when these young people are trying to FIND THEIR VOICE in a world that is increasingly unfamiliar to their parents.
A coach approach creates independent, successful adults.
* Young people who understand themselves.
** Young people who believe in themselves.
*** Young people who are accountable and responsible.
Coaching improves relationships with their parents and others - this is the COACHING MAGIC.
ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism? Even with therapies and brain training sessions, a coach approach can make a world of difference.
Yes, PARENTS ARE THE KEY TO RAISING AMAZING ADULTS.
Here are some thoughts about coaching approaches for parents and others working with young people:
- Encourage to take ownership, don't dictate!
- Embrace strengths instead of focusing on weaknesses!
- Support learning. Don't force it! Each person learns at a different pace - this is a fact!
- Encourage responsibility and accountability!
- Foster improved relationships! Teach empathy by being ... emphatic, not just talking about it.

For sure, there’s a lot more to think about and talk about, so let’s share and create a Voix Guide together, and find out what’s important for YOU.
